This super modern building, next to the BC Place
stadium, is called Parq Vancouver. It has a two-story casino, eight bars and
restaurants, 5,800 square meters of event space and two hotels, the JW Marriott and
The Douglas Autograph, a boutique hotel with 188 apartments, where I’m staying. I have to start showing you this hotel from the
outside, where there are these two stainless steel panda sculptures made by
Chinese artist Zhang Huan. Well, let’s have a look at The Douglas. When we enter, we see this vertical garden
and a small counter used by the bellboys. Over there is the casino entrance and the
lobby of the JW Marriott. The hotel reception is on the sixth floor. I’ll go upstairs. And wait to see
the elevators! I think this is the most instagrammable
hotel elevator I’ve ever seen. Look how cool! A framed mirror full of lights. I’m arriving in the lobby and look at this amazing counter,
where the reception and the concierge are. This is great, right? Douglas Fir is the name of a very common pine
species here in the British Columbia region. That’s where the name of the hotel comes from.
And the reason of this eight-meter-long art installation that reproduces a pine tree with a beam
of light inside, framed by a glass box. And right next to the reception is D/6, a
super cool bar, where I’ll come for a drink later tonight. This hotel opened in 2017 and was designed by
Vincent Celano, from New York firm Celano Design Studio. All Marriott hotels that carry the Autograph
Collection brand have this design touch, with a lot of personality and several characteristics of the city where they are located. This one, for example, is a mix of Vancouver’s
urban side and the exuberance of the British Columbia’s forests. So there is the lobby. And going in this direction, here on the sixth
floor, we enter this open terrace, with a water mirror and a garden. The two hotels are also connected here. There is the JW Marriott, look at the stadium and,
on my left side, The Douglas. Here’s my room, 1277. This is my apartment, with 108 square
meters, that I’ll show you in detail. Starting by the living room… We go in and see this living area, with
a sofa, coffee table, this leather and wooden armchair, which is beautiful,
those two ottomans and a huge television. You can even watch Carioca NoMundo here… I loved these lamps. In fact, all the lighting fixtures in the apartment
are really beautiful. They used shades of gray and brown,
making a very interesting combination. It’s very cozy and warm and, at the
same time, modern. Because of the design of the furniture and the concrete, both in the ceiling and in the column. A small dining table… A pouf… And a very elegant sideboard, right? And, here, a bar area. And what a bar! An espresso machine from the Italian
company Illy. Remembering that it was Illy who invented
the espresso coffee machine. A fridge, a box of tea, an ice bucket. A tray with nuts, chips, chocolate cookies,
Canadian mineral water, more chocolate bars, crunchies and a
selection of beverages. A gin produced in the British Columbia region
by a distillery that developed this gin exclusively for The Douglas. A 12 year old Canadian whiskey, a
Canadian cabernet merlot… Bottles of tonic so you can prepare
a gin and tonic. Next to the sideboard, a toilet, that can
be used by your guests. Or you can use it yourself during your stay. Let’s open the curtains. I want you to see the view. The weather is a little cloudy, but this is
common in Vancouver, especially in winter. Vancouver is a city where it rains a lot. It’s also known as Raincouver. Because of rain. At any moment the weather can change and I’ll show you this view when
it’s sunny. But this is nice anyway. Let’s see my bedroom. Oh, before that, let me show you
my bathroom. With this double sink, super modern…
Beautiful, right? These lights are also very modern. It gives an industrial touch that I love. Look at the city outside. I love a big shower like this, the high
ceiling… And you take a shower with a city view, without
the risk of someone seeing you from outside, because the building is mirrored. They have products from Australian Aesop, which is
one of the best amenities brands of the world. Here’s a tissue box… What else they have here? Ah, how cute this is. A sewing kit, cotton and cotton swabs. Here in the middle, a drawer with shower
caps and a hairdryer. And another set of liquid soap and moisturizing
cream from Aesop. And behind this door, the toilet. Tchan, tchan tchan, tchan! That’s my bed. It looks so comfy. There’s wood, nice lighting, this very
Canadian checkered bed scarf. Both the bedroom lamps and the nightstands
also follow the same design that we saw in the living room, with wood
and aged bronze. Another concrete column. The ceiling is also concrete. Another television, desk and another living
area, with an armchair and sofa. I’m at D/6, the sixth floor bar, which, at night,
completely changes its ambience, light and sound. I came here to have a drink and tell
you two secrets. The first one, I think you don’t know. All my life I had a pool table at home. And I can play! Wanna see? Pick a ball for me to pocket. Or chose them all. What do you think? Didn’t I tell you that I could play? There you have it! Now that I have told you the first one,
let’s go to the second secret. Guess what’s behind this library. Come with me! Look! That’s right! It’s almost Batman’s library, right? A speakeasy, which is a bar hidden
behind the library. You can privatize this area to make a
party just for you and your friends. How about that? Oh, such a good bed! Good morning! It’s 7 AM. I’m waking up now and it’s still dark outside. Let’s make some coffee… Check that! The stadium lights are orange. Yesterday when I went to sleep,
the stadium was blue. It really dawns quite late here
at this time of year. I hope we have a beautiful day today. I’ve told you this already, right? I Illy invented the espresso coffee machine
and is the best Italian espresso. Good morning! I’m watching a Carioca NoMundo video that I love.
It’s the video in Fanjove Island, Tanzania. This place is beautiful! Look at the color of the sea,
look at that! If you haven’t watched it yet, I’ll leave the link on the cards, up here. Check it out! Let me also take this opportunity to give
you an important message. Always give the videos a like, write a comment,
subscribe to the channel and click on the bell to get the notification of new videos. So, whenever I publish a new video,
you’ll be able to check it out. This is super important for the
channel to grow. OK? Thanks! Oh, but there is something else I wanted
to talk about. It’s about the hotel. Yesterday, something interesting
happened. When I left in the afternoon, I stopped by
concierge to ask if they had some glue because the sole of my boot loosened
a little back here. And I like it a lot, I wanted to repair it,
I wanted to wear it during the trip… But I asked just for asking. Then he said: “Can I keep the boot to
check what we can do?” Yes! So I left the boot with him. Returning to the hotel later, I find this shoe bag,
with the boot, this little card inside the boot, saying that they fixed it in
the best possible way and that, even so, if I needed anything else
during my stay, that should I see them again. And look what I found inside. These Canadian candies in the shape
of a tree trunk. Pretty cool huh? The Douglas team, thank you
very much! My boot is here and I’m going to
wear it today, OK? I’m here stalling, the day is beautiful
outside, it’s 8 AM. Let me change to go to the gym
before it’s too late. I’m going to cross the terrace area called
The Park and I’m going to the JW Marriott. The gym there is nicer than the one here,
but you can use either one. I’m going up there. Today, despite the sun, we can see a layer
of ice in the water mirror. I just saw a hotel employee walking
a guest’s dog. The hotel is pet friendly. So, here’s a tip for those who want to
bring their dogs to Vancouver. – How are you, my friend? – How are you? Good? – Hello! Say hello to Carioca NoMundo… – Thank you! See you!
– Bye! Have a good day! This is the JW Marriott gym,
super well equipped. Time to turn off the camera so I can speed up,
if not, for sure, or I’ll end up falling dropping my phone. See you later. Since I am in the Marriott building I’ll
show you the entire spa area that they have here, including this
outdoor jacuzzi. But it’s very cold and I don’t have
the courage to enter. Better go get something to eat. Breakfast at the Honey Salt restaurant,
with farm to table kitchen, which favors small local producers. For this reason, they always have
super fresh food. Let’s check it out? I ordered a dish that I love, eggs Benedict. There are two slices of bread, spinach,
Canadian bacon, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce, sided by potatoes. I love it! I was just leaving breakfast… I just signed my bill and, passing by
the bar, look what I found out. They have a cart preparing drinks at
customers’ tables. And check what the official drink is:
mimosa! – I can’t believe! How are you, my friend? – I’m doing good and you?
– I’m Jayme, how are you? – Greg. Nice to meet you!
I’m doing awesome! – Nice to meet you!
So, you have mimosas? – We do, yeah! We go to tables and we can make
mimosas or caesars, actually at the table. We customize them exactly how
they want. – I’m gonna have a mimosa.
– Yeah, perfect! And here comes the mimosa recipe
prepared especially for you here in Vancouver. Look at that fancy mimosa, guys! You didn’t expect this, did you? Me neither! – Thank you!
– Cheers! – Cheers!
– Enjoy! Delicious! Cheers! There are three suites at the hotel
decorated in a very special way. None of them is the same. Each one has a style. One of them is this, called apartment 108. Two floors, outdoor patio, this living room,
with a foosball table. That’s awesome. It looks like you’re at someone’s
home in Vancouver. But… What a house! Super stylish! I’ll show you the details. A pool table… Look at this chair hanging from the ceiling,
it looks like a rocking chair. And it really is one. A fireplace. A beautiful bar area, with this bar
countertop in the shape of a tree trunk. And there is more: a sink, with a countertop… Wait, there’s still more to show you. And now, tchan, tchan, tchan, tchan!
Prepared for surprise? Check the outdoor patio! This is fabulous. Here you can have a real party and
invite your friends. A seating area… I loved this table. Are you enjoying it? Well, I’m loving it! Ready to see the bedroom? Welcome! And here’s the bathroom! And this is where I’m going to have dinner tonight,
at Victor, one of the eight bars and restaurants at the Parq Vancouver complex. – Good evening! How are you?
– Hi! Welcome to Victor! – Thank you so much! Well, here we are welcomed with
a super smile, right? – How are you?
– Great! It’s so nice to see you! – I think we’ve met before…
– I think so! – You’re from Chile!
– Yes! Guys, this is Paulina, who is very nice, she is the
manager of this incredible restaurant. – And you are…?
– Marília. – Marília?
– Yes. – It’s such a Portuguese name…
– Yeah, I’m Brazilian as well! – I can’t believe! Are you Brazilian? Oh, I wanna hug you both! – Paulina! Oh, it’s so good to be here! Marília! – Nice to meet you!
– It’s my pleasure! – We’re so happy to have you here today! – I’m so happy to be here with
you today. – And I heard this is the best
restaurant… – You’re gonna have the best dinner ever. – Let’s go?
– Yeah. – We have a curved comfy booth
for you tonight. – Oh, thank you so much!
– You’re welcome! While I read the menu, I’ll show you some
images that I made of Victor this afternoon, when the other customers
had not yet arrived at the restaurant. This place is great. Well, they just brought the cover, which
is a bread with caramelized onions and a special house butter. There’s pepper in the bread! The bread is delicious, but it’s super spicy. In fact, a tip that I need to give you for
when you visit Canada. Everything in Canada has pepper. The bread, the water, the toothpaste… Everything has pepper! In fact, look! I just saw it, look at the size of the pepper
grinder they bring to the table. I’m speechless, the meat is spectacular! Delicious! Check the dessert! Look at the size of it! Let’s try the chocolate one… Do you want some? I’ll have this… It’s time to go home. I hope you enjoyed this video, give it a like,
subscribe to the channel and follow me on Instagram
@carioca_nomundo. Thanks and see you soon!
