I mean, lets be real here. How can you have both Coppa and demonetization. Either your content is aimed at children and you don't get ads meaning you don't get revenue, or you curse and swear only to get demonetized due to foul language. There would be no winning with it. Literally every channel would be unable to make revenue without some kind of outside assistance.

I think that it would be better if youtube just makes a kids site and removes all the restrictions on the regular site. In this way the parents can just turn on the parental control and kids would be unable to enter regular youtube.

Edgier content is such a BROAD spectrum, however. Is talking about my experience with death in the family considered edgy? Is discussing about my depression considered edgy? What about my sexual orientation? They're not very good with their specifics in their language.

Don't get your hopes up. I don't think YouTube will get rid of demonetization. They just want to give advertisers the opportunity to put their ads on SPECIFIC types of edgy videos that could benefit them. Thing is not all edgy videos have commercial value. Demonetization is here to stay.
I would only believe that demonetization will be eliminated if it is spoken directly, and not implied, from the horse's mouth herself

Content creators are the only inoccent people in this situation. There's no more victims but them. They are the only ones who are nice. YouTube has been fined and need to obay the law, and they will lose lots of money as well, so they are not one of the victims.

    Okay.

If I see one more person YouTube and say this whole thing is their fault even though they are one of the victims too (because they got fined and will lose lots of revenue) like, seriously why does no one bring up the fact that content creators aren't the only ones who lose? Kids lose, and YouTube loses too. So in the end no one but the FTC wins.

One of two outcomes: Either YouTube becomes extinct and goes the way of Google+, or (more likely) it's going to become a platform explicitly for commercial creators like Netflix. Whichever the case one thing is for sure; This platform is on its way to a slow death, enjoy it while you all still can.

I think you are overlooking certain things. The most important one being the fact that the largest group of Youtube visitors are young to very young children. Almost all advertising will go to them and you will be left with the crumbs. You point to more edgier advertisers for your group, but where are they? The only examples that both you and Youtube can come up with are producers of R-rated movies. Even when you add R-rated games, then that assortment is still incredibly small compared to 'the rest of the world in advertising'. – In fact, when Youtube speaks about "hundreds of thousands of dollars in ads on yellow dollar icons", it may sound like a lot but when it has to be spread out over millions of those icons, I doubt it will amount to anything meaningful.

To put it bluntly, kids are the money makers on this platform. Youtube is giving advertisers the tools to focus on them, and when that happens, those advertisers may decide that you're a negligible market for them. At the very least they will have a clear choice in where to invest.

My guess is that most creators like you will start (or continue) to produce material that is aimed at a mature audience, but passes all demands to be marked Child-safe. No cursing, no blood, no violence, because you know, the show must go on….
